about

Hello! Here's something I wrote for Bandcamp Friday, I wanted to make a very happy and energetic piece in response to the not-so-good time we're all experiencing right now.

The structure of this piece is that of the "concerto grosso" which is a special type of concerto exclusive of the baroque age. Unlike the regular concerto in which you have a soloist vs the orchestra, in the concerto grosso you have a group of soloists (concertino) vs the orchestra so the whole structure consists in alternating between the smaller ensemble playing alone, smaller ensemble with the orchestra or the orchestra playing alone. In this concerto the smaller ensemble of soloists is made by a flute and two pianos, so it's a pretty autonomous group on its own. The concerto is always in 3 movements so here we have a very rhythmic Allegro followed by a slow and relaxed movement: the Adagio; the concerto ends with the Presto, which is a crazy Mozart-like rondo that reprises all the themes presented in the previous two movements.
